On August 13th, Li Yusong (Steve) of our school received an unconditional offer of materials engineering and science from Imperial College London (ranked 8th in QS World University in 2021). This is the first undergraduate offer from Imperial College London in Jiangxi Province so far. In other words, Steve is the first Imperial College London undergraduate cultivated by a local school in Jiangxi Province.

As early as last December, Steve received an interview-free priority admission for materials engineering and science from Imperial College London. After 8 months, Steve finally realized his dream of Imperial College London.

Imperial College is a world public research university specializing in science, engineering, medicine, and business. It has a reputation in the international academic circle and is one of the world's most innovative universities. It ranks firmly in the top ten in the world in various lists. It is also known as the "G5 Elite University" along with Cambridge University, Oxford University, University College London, and London School of Economics. There is a saying in the British education circles that there is a "three pillars": Oxford is a good liberal arts college; Cambridge is a good science; and engineering is none other than Imperial College. Among the relevant figures at Imperial College, there are 14 Nobel Prize winners and 3 Fields Medal winners.

Before entering Tianxing Genesis, Steve studied at a key high school in Nanchang for a long time, but because of some bottlenecks in the learning process, he later transferred to Tianxing Genesis after careful consideration. At that time, the courage and vision of classmate Steve's family made the teachers of Tianxing Genesis admire very much. But it was such a student who had difficulty entering the ideal university even if he tried very hard to take the college entrance examination with his grades at the time. After three years of studying in Tianxing Genesis, he was admitted to the eighth university. And this is also due to Steve's own efforts and personally customized advancement planning.

Steve is a serious student of science and engineering, and this is not allowed in the domestic college entrance examination. However, Tianxing Genesis adopts the British A-level curriculum, which allows students to partial subjects, and students can choose three to four subjects they are good at to take the exam. This can solve Steve's partial subject problem and turn it into an advantage.

Steve’s college planning teacher, President Tao Juanjuan Vivian, introduced: “Steve’s academic ability in science and engineering is very strong, and he has a spirit of research and exploration, but his IELTS score is relatively weak. For this reason, we quickly helped him find the right position-apply for Imperial College. In the first year of high school, we have helped Steve to establish that his general direction is material engineering, and then when planning the subdivision direction, we determined three main routes for him. They are: grades (standardized grades, A) -Level scores, IELTS scores), career exploration, academic planning. After the goals are determined, the teachers in the College Guidance Office will help him formulate training plans from multiple angles and directions."

Since entering Tianxing Genesis, Steve has been working hard. In addition to his own hardware, he has been active in major competitions. Every year, the school arranges customized competitions for Steve students. He has won the University of Waterloo Avogadro Chemistry Competition Team Winning Award, the Bronze Award of the British Chemical Society Rising Star Challenge, and the National Silver Award of the Chinese Division of the American Chemistry Competition. He also participated in the NOC Robot Road Driving Specification Challenge and won the second prize in the country. Award for good results.

In terms of career exploration, in the first year of senior high school, Steve participated in the National Robot Competition and won the national first prize. In addition, we also learned that Li Yusong had already followed the doctoral supervisor of the Chinese Academy of Sciences to do research projects earlier and finally received a recommendation letter from the doctoral supervisor. In the summer of the second year of senior high school, under the arrangement of the school, Steve went to the laboratory of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and followed the doctoral supervisor to conduct experiments. All of these laid a solid foundation for him to obtain an interview-free offer from Imperial College London.

Eventually, Steve, with scores of mathematics A-Chemistry A-Physics A, plus a qualified language result, successfully got an official offer from Imperial College London.
